Employment
People with a cognitive disability experience disproportionately high levels of unemployment. These people have the desire and skills to work and with the right support can successfully gain and maintain employment. Integrity House has been supporting member’s efforts to return to employment since September of 2009. Access to employment is critical to ensure that our members are fully included in their communities, because work is positively linked to overall wellness and quality of life.
There are two separate and distinct employment programs for Integrity House members:
Transitional Employment Program: The clubhouse “owns” the jobs that members are assigned to for 3 months to 6 months. There are employment managers who train member employees on the job until the member feels comfortable and competent in the job. The Clubhouse mediates any problems or conflicts that arise.
Supported Employment Program: Helps members gain permanent employment of their own with the assistance of a Clubhouse job coach only for the first few months of work. This job is the member’s job to keep. The Clubhouse provides ongoing support for members as needed in their jobs.
